JEFFREY CHAPPELL, concert pianist, has been a soloist with the symphony orchestras of Philadelphia, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Houston, Denver, Indianapolis, Oakland, Key West and the Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque. Frequent appearances with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra include concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York and Wolf Trap Park in Virginia. He has toured South America with recitals in Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, Caracas, and Surinam, and has given concerts with orchestras in Mexico City and San Salvador. In Europe he has performed in France, Belgium, and the Czech Republic, and in Asia he has performed in Japan and Indonesia.
JEFFREY CHAPPELL, classical pianist, was a scholarship student of Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Conservatory and Eleanor Sokoloff at the Curtis Institute. Early studies were in St. Louis as the protege of Jane Allen. He has been a prizewinner in numerous competitions and was a recipient of the Solo Recitalist Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
JEFFREY CHAPPELL, jazz pianist, has performed his own piano solo jazz arrangements in recitals and has appeared with numerous jazz artists since the 1980s. He has performed at the Key West International Jazz Festival, Stanford Jazz Festival, East Coast Jazz Festival, and other venues. He has served as pianist and arranger for DC Express, a jazz vocal quartet, including performances in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Annapolis. He has served as Conductor of the Goucher College Jazz Ensemble since 1992 and the Levine School of Music Jazz Ensemble since 1998.
JEFFREY CHAPPELL is on the faculties of Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland and the Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C. He has been the Head of Jazz Studies at Goucher College, Baltimore, since 2001, and Co-Chairman of the Jazz Department at Levine School of Music, Washington, D.C. since 1999. He has served as Director of the Goucher Summer Arts Institute Jazz Camp since 1999. He also gives private lessons.
JEFFREY CHAPPELL is an award-winning composer. His recent works integrate techniques of classical composition with elements of American popular music. His solo piano composition "American Sonata" won the Keyboard Magazine Soundpage Competition. His "Shadowdance" for piano and wind ensemble was commissioned by the Mid-Atlantic Chamber Orchestra with a grant from the Meet The Composer Foundation.
